ABOUT SCHOOL PLAY STREAM
WHERE PERFORMANCES BECOME LEGACIES
School Play Stream exists because some moments are too important to disappear when the lights come up.
We started with a simple belief: every student deserves an audience, every writer deserves a stage, and every school deserves the resources to keep the arts alive.
WHAT WE DO
We help verified schools across Ireland record their productions and share them safely with families — grandparents who cannot travel, relatives abroad, parents who could not get time off work. For €25, they purchase lasting access to their child’s performance, saved to a private library they can revisit whenever nostalgia strikes.
But we are more than a video platform. We are a bridge between classrooms and creativity.
Playwrights — whether you are a student writing your first ten-minute play or an established voice with decades of productions behind you — can upload original works directly to our marketplace. Schools browse, discover, and perform scripts that speak to their students. When they do, you earn €2 per video sold, with full credit on every production.
And now, schools themselves can become the playwrights.
Using our Script Builder and classroom resources, any drama teacher can guide their class through writing an original play from scratch — scene by scene, character by character, in their own words. When that play is uploaded to the platform, other schools across Ireland can discover it, licence it, and perform it. Every time they do, the school that wrote it earns a royalty. A class project becomes a creative legacy.
Four thousand schools. Nine hundred thousand students. One platform connecting them all — as audiences, performers, and now as authors.
WHY IT MATTERS
Drama does not just teach children to project their voices — it teaches them to find their voices. The anxious child who discovers courage. The restless student who learns focus. The quiet one who finally gets seen.
When children write their own play, the impact runs even deeper. They develop literacy, creative thinking, and the ability to collaborate — all while producing something they are genuinely proud of. Every child finds a role that suits them. Nobody is left out. The writer, the actor, the set designer, the director — all of them matter, all of them contribute, all of them belong.
Performing builds confidence, teamwork, and empathy. These are not just plays; they are transformative experiences that shape how young people see themselves and each other.
And yet, drama programmes struggle. Budgets tighten. Resources disappear. The arts become optional.
That is where we step in.
HOW WE HELP
School Play Stream donates half of its profits from every video purchase directly back to the school’s drama department — real money for real needs: lighting rigs, costume fabrics, workshop facilitators, scripts, props — whatever keeps the curtain rising.
Here is how each €25 purchase breaks down:
• VAT (23%): €4.67
• Banking and processing fees: €0.75
• Playwright royalty (where a licensed script is used): €2.00
• School donation — half of the remaining net profit: €8.78
• The remainder supports the platform that makes it all possible.
Schools that write and upload their own original scripts receive an additional €2.00 royalty donation every time another school licences and performs their work — on top of their standard donation from their own video sales.
One purchase. Multiple beneficiaries. A cycle that keeps giving.
After playwright payments, VAT, and banking fees, the remainder supports the platform that makes it all possible. Everyone who contributes gets supported. One purchase. Multiple beneficiaries. A cycle that keeps giving.
OUR PROMISE
We make it easy for schools to share performances safely — verified institutions only, private pages, and complete control over who sees what.
We give drama teachers the tools to turn a classroom into a writers’ room — and a writers’ room into a production that parents will treasure for the rest of their lives.
We celebrate student achievement by preserving the work they have poured their hearts into, giving families keepsakes that last a lifetime.
And we connect classrooms with Ireland’s playwright community — from teenage writers testing their talent to seasoned professionals seeking fresh audiences, and now to the schools writing their own stories for the very first time.
BUILT WITH CARE. DRIVEN BY BELIEF.
From first rehearsal to final bow, School Play Stream protects what matters: memories for families, income for artists, funding for schools, and the opportunity for every student to shine — not just on stage, but on the page.
Because drama does not just belong in the moment. It deserves to echo long after the applause fades.
